Cleated Belt Conveyors UK

Cleated belt conveyors use raised flights to help move products up inclines or between different heights. They are useful where product rollback, spacing or controlled elevation must be considered.

Cleated Belt Conveyors UK: practical checks

A cleated belt is usually considered when a standard flat belt cannot reliably hold the product on an incline. The incline angle, cleat height, pitch, belt surface and side containment all need to suit the actual product.

Check whether products are loose, packaged, fragile, wet, oily or prone to rolling. A design that works for a rigid carton may not suit a pouch, component or loose product.

The discharge point is also important because the product may need to leave the cleated belt cleanly into a hopper, machine, tray, packing bench or another conveyor.

What to send before asking for a quote

A conveyor quote is easier to prepare when the supplier understands the product and the real operating area. Photos, a sketch and the required output target often prevent the wrong conveyor type from being shortlisted.

Include the product dimensions, weight, base condition, route length, height changes, bends, access constraints, cleaning requirements and neighbouring equipment. These details determine the conveyor type, frame, belt or roller choice, controls and installation route.
